Goals My MSUrbanSTEM experience left me craving for more. What’s next? I started this school year for the second year in a row teaching a new grade and implementing change in my teaching practices. This time it was two different grade levels, 5th and 6th grade math. I’ve knocked down some traditional practices and discovered being an innovator is rewarding to students and the school community. I found out years ago from reading the book Now, Discover Your Strengths that I am a Learner. It’s time for me wisely manage my time and incorporate self-discipline to implement strategies that will continue impact to my career. Reading my students and colleagues feedback about my ImagineIT and activities made me realize the impact my goals has on others. I look forward to incorporating more family and community involvement. I researched the MSU MAET leadership program because it includes a global overseas component and it sounds awesome. I know that will take financial planning due to the out of state cost to enroll or seek other opportunities that will help learn more about being a global educator. It’s time to make some changes to achieve my goals.
Change and Network I’m looking to anticipate change in how I spend my time, using more technology, and reading books. Spending time becoming an expert with the technology that I only used the basics is something I plan to make happen in my classroom. Setting a time to get involved in blogs and educational chats to build my personal learning network will become a priority. I would like to include some of my teacher friends on building upon my ImagineIT project because they have stressed interest in learning more about what I’m doing in my classroom and training them. This is all about time management.
Goodbye Past...Hello NOW It has been an awesome year of teaching, learning, and exploring. The education world evolves and I will abandon placing it in a box because I enjoy imagining and wondering. Wonder and imagination takes you places your comfort zone never will. I've abandon being a part of silos and will continue collaborating. It's been an amazing experience as a transformer and implementing innovative practices. Goodbye comfort zone!
